Course Description

The Geriatric Patient Care class is a focused EMS training program designed to improve assessment, treatment, and communication strategies when caring for older adult patients in the prehospital environment. Led by EMS instructor Michael Hughes, this course addresses the unique physiological, medical, and social considerations that impact geriatric emergency care.

As the population ages, EMS providers are increasingly responding to complex calls involving chronic illness, multiple medications, atypical symptom presentation, and increased vulnerability to injury. This class prepares responders to recognize these challenges and adapt their care accordingly to improve patient outcomes.
